All outdoor air quality data published by MyAQI.org is licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International Licence. This means you are free to share, adapt, and build upon the data for any purpose โ€” including commercial โ€” as long as you give appropriate credit to MyAQI.org. The additional terms below apply alongside CC BY 4.0 and are specific to the air quality data context.

  • Train machine learning models on the data

  • Claim the data as your own original work
  • Apply a more restrictive licence when redistributing
  • Re-identify individual citizens from the data
  • Use to target citizens without their consent
  • Suppress or selectively exclude unflattering data
  • Present modified data as the original MyAQI.org data
  • Misrepresent the source, quality, or accuracy of the data

Vendor Data Partners โ€” Licence Interaction

Data contributed by vendor partners (Respirer, Smiledrive, AQI.in, Aurassure, and others) to the MyAQI.org platform is incorporated into the open data licence once contributed. This means:

In plain terms: Any researcher or developer can use the outdoor AQ readings for free under CC BY 4.0. But the right to market indoor AQ products to opted-in MyAQI.org citizens belongs only to vendors who have signed the Vendor Agreement and contributed their data.
