Laws That Protect Your Air

India has strong legislation protecting citizens from air pollution. Know which laws apply โ€” and how to use them to hold polluters accountable in Pune.

โš–๏ธ

Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1981

Prohibits emission of air pollutants beyond prescribed standards from any industry, vehicle, or generator. Violations can be reported to MPCB (Maharashtra Pollution Control Board).

๐Ÿ—๏ธ

Construction & Demolition Waste Rules, 2016

Construction sites above 20,000 sqm must install anti-smog guns, cover material stockpiles, and prevent dust escape. PMC/PCMC can penalise non-compliant sites.

Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change โ€” C&D Rules 2016
